1.  JOHN2 HAIR  (JACOB1) was born 09 Mar 1754 in Makefield, Bucks Co., PA, and died 06 Dec 1841 in Stonelick Township, Clemont Co., OH.  He married NANCY TORBETT 08 Nov 1781 in Philadelphia, PA.  She was born in Kennedy Jigg, PA.

Notes for JOHN HAIR:

Revolutionary War Service pension # S4325.  John was born in Bucks Co., PA about the year 1754 record in my Father's Bible.
 I lived in Bucks County, afterwards about ten years in Franklin County and since that in Green and Washington County.
 Resided in Nash Co., PA 1832, then in Ohio in 1833.  John was for a long time a Justice of the Peace in Green County.
 Applied for pension Hopewell township, Washington Co, PA age 79 in Nov 1832.
 Pension received from Cincinnati agency.  The records state In 1833, John removed to the lower part of Ohio.

 John Hair d 6 Dec 1841 age 87 yrs, 3 mo. 3 days. (born 9-3-1754) Rev Soldier.

Smith Joseph and Hannah born 9-26-1783 d.1-10-1839 (daughter of John Hair) married 1805 in Green Co., PA  to Joseph Smith, Jr., son of Capt. Dennis Smith (Rev. Soldier).   Mrs. Wm. D. Hauck 3rd great grand dau. Williamsburg, Ohio Roster 1, page 168.  Soldier  John Hair lived with Arthur Clark in 1840.  See the 55th NSDAR report.

The Hair brothers Tom, John and Jonas were the first settlers in Riley Center, KS.  Jonas picked up his children Lydia, Jonas and Franklin P. from Ira Willcox after his wife died and traved by covered wagon pulled by a mule to Green Bay, Covington Co., AL.  He built a log cabin.  The hand-sewn fence posts are still standing.  He planted corn in squares or square plots instead of long rows. his grandchildren told that people came from all around to admire the growth and size of his corn.  He went into a near by swamp and hauled swamp-muck to plant with each kernal of corn.

Notes for EMILY JANE "EMMA" HAIR:
!Ruth Ketts Huffman relates remembering Emily sitting in her rocking  chair quilting and telling stories.  Emily told if she could have
proven her birth she would have been entiteled to Indian claims.  Daniel Boone Ketts grew tomatoes and worked in a creamery. 
Ruth thinks they moved to Oka. from Missouri.  Her father George Washington Ketts worked in Billings at age 15.  Edward Ketts
lived in Iola, Oka.  Eugene Hair's children lived with George Washington Ketts' family.  Ruth recalls Eugene, Ed, DeTressa and two
other females as some of Eugene's Children.  Ruth lived in Kansas City and remembers her mother visiting Franklin Hair when she came to visit.  Eugene was brought to Billings for burial near Emily.

Notes for JOSEPH HARDIE APLIN:

Joseph married Lydia Tuesday 7 Jan. 1890 at 4 pm.  Their Bible is in the posession of John W. Andrews.  The Andalusia Star 23 May 1912 Deadly Shooting gives the account of Joseph and Charlie Wilkes' deadly duel.  Covington Co. History 1821-1976 by Byran has picture of Joseph as Chief of Police.  Joseph's death Certificate #408 was found in LDS library in Birmingham on a roll of Death films.  Aplin looks more like Afflin on the Certificate.  Cause of death gunshot wound of stomach.  Killed in pistal duel.  No parents were listed.  Occupation: Marshal.  Death date May 18, 1912 at 1030 PM.  Newspaper account indicates May 20 and tombstones have May 20 for both Joseph and Charlie Wilks.  Tradition is that Joseph locked Jonas Hair in a corn crib to ask for Lydia's hand in marriage.  Lydia told stories of traveling by covered wagon to Alabama.  Lydia sewed and did beautiful hand work crochet and loop embroidery.  Joseph and Lydia are buried in Magnolia Cemetery in Andalusia, AL.

Homestead Certificate No. 16302, Application 26802.  Montgomery Land office Joseph Aplin: North half of North West quarter of South East quarter of the North West and South West quarter of th North East quarter Section nineteen in Township 2 North of Range eighteen East of St. Stephens Meridian in AL containing one hundred and sixty acres ond twenty-two hundredths of an acre dated 18 April 1898.  Joseph H. and Annie L. sold 80 acres NW1/4 of NW1/4 and SW1/4 of NE1/4 Sec 19, T2, R18 to Jackson Lumber Company 8 Feb 1898.

Joseph rarely carried a gun.  He was 6' 4" and weighed 240 lbs.  When Joe walked down the street he was known as Mr. Aplin.  Joe was home off duty May 20, 1912.  Towns men came to his home due to a distrubance in town.  Charlie Wilkes was shooting his gun in the Wilkes store.  The night marshall would not go in after him, so someone can for Joe.  Joe put on his gun.  He was never afraid of anyone.  He went into the store and told Wilkes to come along peacefully.  Wilks said he was not going.  Wilks shot Joe, then Joe took out his gun and shot Wilks.  Joseph paid $25.00 for his cemetery plat 7 March 1906.  Joe taught Fannie Lou to shoot.  They would go for buggy rides on Sunday.  Fannie Lou learned to shoot birds from the buggy using a pistol.

Jonas was one year old when his mother married Ira Wilcox and 6 when his mother died from measles.  Jonas was 18 when his father left him in Green Bay, AL with Lydia who was married to Joseph Aplin.  In 1894 he married Lula Jeanette Snowden.   He founded the Star Pressing Club in 1907, later known as Star Dry Cleaners.
