Levi BROOKSHIRE. The first reference we find of him is his marriage to Eliza Ellen CRAWFORD on 23 Jul 1898 in St Clair County, Alabama. We know that he fathered three children. Jessie (5 May 1899) Milton (27 Jul 1901) and Lydia (5 Sept 1903). Our next info is that Eliza married Jake Smith on 15 Aug 1906 in Fulton County, Georgia. In the 1960's Levi's grave was identified as an unmarked grave in the Easonville Methodist Church Cemetery. It was moved to the Cropwell Baptist Church Cemetery before the power company made the big reservoir. So...we don't know where Levi was born, where he died or who his parents were.
The Brookshire name has been extensively documented and 2 Brookshire genealogists have researched with us...with no results. We know who he wasn't and who his father wasn't....at least according to census records, death records and the like. Do you have any ideas? One other fact that I've not been able to peruse yet is this...Before Eliza married Jake Smith, her children were in an orphanage in Atlanta for a time. I'm thinking that they might have lived in Georgia when Levi died, or the children would have went to an orphanage in Alabama. There is a book listing obituaries in St Clair County for the time period when he would have died, but he's not listed.
Any help you can give us would greatly be appreciated.

Casey, Margaret Louise RUSH I need help locating information (marriage, children, and death) of Margaret Louise Rush (born in Frederick County Virginia about 1903) who first married Lewis Millard Cain about 1922.
Margaret then married a Mr. _____ Jones from Alabama (between 1923 and 1937) (no name of the city or county in Alabama known).
Margaret then married a Mr. _______ Casey of West Point, Georgia (between 1937 and 1940). It is the second two marriages that I have very little information other than what is presented here.
The family does not know the first names of either Mr. _____ Jones or Mr. _____ Casey. Margaret’s married names were obtained from her parents (James and Mollie MCDONALD Rush) OBITS.
Any help/leads appreciated by the family,

Found a white Dr. Alsey Clements in Bibb and Tuscaloosa Counties AL. on various Census' prior to the Civil War. He owned slaves. Since mother of Alcy was shown to have been born in AL (see 1910 Census abstract above) and that he was mistakenly listed as a white man by a census taker (see 1920 Census abstract above) that this Dr. might possible be related - possible even the father. Can't find a definite connection though.

Davis, Calber (Caleb) L. was living in Benton County, 29th Subdivision in 1850. Records indicate that he was born in South Carolina about 1821. I do not know who his parents were or at what point he moved to Alabama. He moved away from Alabama some time about 1860 and moved to Mississippi and then to Dyer County, Tennessee between 1867-1870. Some time before 1843 he married Sarah (Sallie) F. Unk., born abt. 1824 in Georgia.

George Riley 1863 or 1866 born in Mississippi

Joseph Franklin 6/15/1869 born in Tennessee

I have been unable to locate any records on the internet about marriage records for C.L. Davis, as he is listed in the 1850 census, & Sarah. I do not know if there are any land records in Alabama or even a will that mentions his name. I do not know anything about his parents or siblings, that is if he had any. I have been researching this for years, but I do not have the transportation to visit Calhoun County to search for records.

Ferguson, Ewell Crawford My ancestor Ewell Crawford Ferguson is listed in the 1860 and 1880 census of Pickens County, AL (In 1870, he is just across the border at Macon, MS.) He is very much a mystery. In 1860 he is listed as age 28, born in AL; in 1870 he is listed as age 34, born in TN; in 1880 he is listed as age 52, born in VA. In 1860, he is married and has four children, the oldest being born around 1852. I cannot find him in the 1850 census, although there is a Ferguson family with two sons having the initials E.C. Ferguson. The oldest is Emmett C. Ferguson - could this be Ewell C. Ferguson? In two census records, he is listed as Crawford Ferguson. Emmett C. Ferguson was the son of Mary and Larkin Ferguson (deceased prior to 1850). L Wilson 8-27-2004

Gray, Greenberry T. Please help! I am looking for any information on the parents of Greenberry T Gray of Lawrence County. He married Mary Brown in 1838. His father was Joseph Linn Gray and mother was Bettie Summers Alexander both from some part of Tennessee. I do know that Joseph purchased 40 acres in Lawrence County in 1834 and got remarried in 1836 to Priscilla Boyd in 1836. I would like to know where in Tennessee Joseph Linn Gray came from and if possible where Greenberry or Joseph Linn are buried. Larry Gray 11-8-2004

She was born June 21, 1858 in Macon County, Alabama. She married Master Nathaniel Brown around 1876-1877. Pearson, John Henry I am trying to document the connection James Henry (Jim) Pearson to the family of Jonathan J. Pearson and Elizabeth Buchanan of Talladega Co, AL. Jonathan J. Pearson born 1832 in Bibb Co, AL married Elizabeth Buchanan born 1836 in Anderson Co, SC on 26 Feb 1857 in Shelby Co, Al. Jonathan J. was killed/died of injuries in the Civil War at Vicksburg, MS 6 Jun 1863. At the time of Jonathan's death he had three children: Mary, John and William. Another child was born after his death which is believed to be James Henry (Jim) Pearson on 7 Dec 1863. I have the 1860 Talladega Co, AL census which list Jonathan, Elizabeth, Mary, John and William plus another female named Martha Buchanan female born in SC all living in the same household. After Jonathan's death, Elizabeth Pearson is found on the AL 1866 census of Talladega Co as: Elizabeth Pearson - 2 males 0 to 10, 1 male 10 to 20, 1 female 10 to 20 and 1 female 20 to 30 and l died of sickness (veteran) I have not been able to find them any where on the 1870 or 1880 AL census. It has been reported that Elizabeth married a Lovett. No proof. James Henry (Jim) Pearson is my wife's grandfather.

Robinson, Elizabeth My ancestor Elizabeth Robinson (1835-1892) is recorded in the 1860 and 1870 census of Pickens County, AL. In 1860 she is already married to H.G. Williams and they have three small children. The marriage likely took place around 1853. I have not been successful in locating her in the 1850 census (age 15) or a marriage record for her. In all census records in which she is listed, the state of her birth is Mississippi. If memory serves me correct, this part of Alabama was in the "Mississippi Territory" in 1835. The 1880 census indicates that both of her parents were born in North Carolina. L Wilson 8-27-2004

Unknown, Elce/Elsey My ancestor, Mrs. Ewell Crawford Ferguson, is listed as follows: 1860, Elce, age 23, born AL; 1870 Dilcey, age 46, born SC; and in 1880, Elsey A., age 46, born VA. I have no clue about her maiden name or the names of her parents or siblings. No marriage record has been found for Ewell Crawford Ferguson (or any variation) to anyone. The family lived near Carrollton in 1860. (Pickens County, AL) L Wilson 8-27-2004

Williams, Henderson G. My ancestor Henderson G. Williams (1832-1897) is recorded in the 1860 and 1870 census of Pickens County, AL. He was born in 1832 - all census records indicate North Carolina as his state of birth. In 1860 he is already married to Elizabeth Robinson and they have three small children. It is probable that the marriage occurred around 1853. I cannot locate him in the 1850 census, where he should be listed as 18 years of age - possibly H.G. or Henry Williams, nor can I locate a marriage record. L Wilson 8-27-2004
